Gumball3000 route 2011 released!

Staying true to their roots the Gumball rally this year will also start in their hometown, London. This year the racers will head down to Paris after the flag is dropped, then straight to Barcelona. After Barcelona they will have a grand event together with Monaco Grand Prix in Monaco. Then follows Venice, Belgrade and the mysterious and exotic Istanbul for the grand finale. This year the rally will once again be “a once in a lifetime” for those involved and drivers alike! Click on the map for more info!

A journey with Moe and Matt

Earlier this year I had a press pass and followed the Gumball3000 rally in London and Copenhagen which was an exciting adventure. One of the cars which impressed me the most was a Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Convertible. Driven by two long-time friends who calls themselves Moe and Matt. On their website yo can take part in their excursions through the world, whether it is to the foot of Mt. Everest or participating in the Gumball3000 rally.

They explained earlier that they one day sat down and had all this energy and wanted to to more with their lives so they decided to write up things they wanted to do – and do it. How they came up with a way to actually came to do all this was to write down everything they wanted to do. Then they curled the note together and tossed it in a bin and saved it for later. Each time they had completed an object they reached for the bin and grabbed a new note – whatever that said they did. Amazing stuff – and an inspiration I think.

Found a picture on Twitter of Xzibit in the Porsche receiving a ticket for speeding. The swedish police had caught him doing 100 mph. Luckily the police did not revoke his license. He got away with a ticket and they gave him 48 hours to leave the country. No problem for him that!

Gumball3000 2010 update

Today the Gumballers left Copenhagen en-route for Stockholm. They will make a stop at Anderstorp Racingtrack where audience can watch supercars from Gumball take a few laps.

There will also be a drift demo by Monster Energy drift team, so that should be an awesome thing so don`t miss it if you are nearby! For full Gumball3000-programme check this link.

I saw Maximillion drive by in his Morgan Aero Max this morning at 09.30 am by my hotel, and a pink Bentley coupe followed him (that would be Eve).  Destination Stockholm where they`ll be loaded on a plane to fly to Bangor Maines and drive to Boston, after the pit stop at the race track at Anderstorp.

Gumball 3000 2010 update: VIP party CPH

Yesterday we waited the drivers in to Tivoli in Copenhagen between 7.00 and 9.00 pm but mostly due to the ban of Gumballers in Germany – where drivers had to sit on a coach through Germany while their cars were transported with them – the cars were very delayed in to Copenhagen.

Tivoli was to be a backgorund to this evenings Gumball rally event and an area inside the tivoli were made available for the cars, when they arrived by the Gumball crew.

The first three cars arrived around 7.00 pm with a red Ferrari coming as number one (picture below).

After those few first cars, it took a while before the rest came in. Hours went by without nothing. A few cars arrived here and there (below).

While the cars arrived – drivers and co-drivers, celebs and other press joined the party at Ketchup near the designated car parking. In this area only drivers were allowed, Gumball decision. After they have been driving for long hours, what can be better than to join probably the best VIP party in Denmark this year?

Press were hoping for David Hasselhoff and Xzibit, and got Tony Hawk. Neither David Hasselhoff, Xzibit or Eve for that matter, or Maximillion showed up to the party. Maybe they were late, or maybe they thought about when they are starting the race the next day. Scheduled departure was 08.00 am. ANd at three 03.00 am cars were still arriving to the Tivoli with the party and music creating a nice atmosphere for the cars and drivers arriving there (below).

Gumball 3000 2010 update

The cars are expected to arrive Copenhagen around 6:30-7:00 pm heading for the Tivoli on H.C. Andersen`s Boulevard. Tonight there will be a big VIP party for the drivers.

Gumball drivers had to coach through Germany because the German authorities did not approve of any Gumball activity on their roads because, well because they are attending the Gumball rally!

Dutch police were well prepared for the drivers and gave out lots of tickets.

Gumball3000 2010 is on!

Today the cars started their 3000 long rally towards New York from London. Lots of press, celebrities and people gathered around the Pall Mall street  in London for the start.

First gumballer spotted!

Today I spotted first gumballers taking their cars out for a spin. Maybe they were part of the Gumball crew – the were located near the skate ramp at Waterloo.

There are so little time, and so much to see and discover. I have not yet had the time to upload the pictures. But I`ll make sure you get them first here!

Maybe I`ll go to a party tonight with Ana, she lives in London. I got to remember then that I have to get up earyl to fetch my press pass at St. Martins Hotel tomorrow morning.

The Hoff has joined Gumball

David Hasselhoff has joined the Gumball 3000 rally as he did in 2008 when they started in San Fransisco. He is just one of the many celebs who are starting in London to drive the 3000 mile long rally to New York.

From before we have learned that Michael Madsen, Tony Hawk, Dizzee Rascall, Xzibit as well as Eve among others are also joining this years Gumball 3000 event.

As for Trygoogleme, I  hope someone will be kind enough to let me hitchhike with them. I will use most of the first day to seek out someone with a spare seat.

Tomorrow I will be heading down to Bergen for a quick pit stop before setting course to Oslo, then London on Thursday, April 29th.  Then starts the game to get to Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Stockholm. That will be the legs of part one, the European part of the rally.

Enroute the rally will include live concerts and spectacular parties on the stop-overs. The total number of cars are limited to 120 cars. From Stockholm the whole pack will be flown to North America to continue the journey through Boston, Quebec and Toronto before crossing the finish line in New York on Times Square on Friday 7th May.
